   US lifts Fable 5, Mythos 5 export controls

   Commerce withdrew the controls after Anthropic agreed to new cyber classifiers, wider pre-release evaluator access, and rapid jailbreak disclosure; Fable 5 returned globally on July 1 as OpenAI limited its GPT-5.6 preview to about 20 government-approved partners.

   US export controls force Fable 5 shutdown

   The Commerce Department used national-security export authority to bar foreign nationals from Anthropic's two most capable models over a disputed Fable 5 jailbreak, and Anthropic disabled both worldwide, the first US restriction on a commercial model rather than chips.
